Following the unveiling of its flagship 15 Ultra in China, the tech giant has officially entered the UK and European markets with both the 15 Ultra and its base model, the Xiaomi 15. Although the absence of the Pro variant may come as a surprise to some, Xiaomi is making its presence felt by launching an impressive array of complementary devices, including tablets and smart accessories.
The pricing for the two models reflects Xiaomi’s commitment to delivering high-quality devices at accessible price points. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is positioned at £1,299 / €1,499 (approximately $1,600), while the Xiaomi 15 starts at £899 / €999 (around $1,100). Both models are powered by the robust Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, suggesting that users can expect high performance. Including large batteries and support for fast wired and wireless charging, these devices also boast an IP68 rating, a critical feature for water and dust resistance.
A significant area where the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Ultra diverge is in their camera capabilities. While both smartphones feature a trio of 50-megapixel cameras—including a main, telephoto, and ultrawide lens—the Ultra distinguishes itself with distinct sensors for each lens. This innovation is anticipated to result in superior photographic outcomes. Additionally, the Ultra boasts a remarkable 200-megapixel periscope lens, which is a noteworthy feature for photography enthusiasts. Complementing this, Xiaomi offers a Photography Kit add-on priced at £179 (around $225), designed to enhance the user’s photography experience with a functional camera grip, shutter button, zoom lever, and exposure dial.
Joining the smartphone lineup, Xiaomi has also unveiled the Xiaomi Pad 7 and Pad 7 Pro, both featuring sizable 11.2-inch 3.2K 144Hz displays. These tablets come equipped with comparable specifications; however, the Pro model takes a step further by harnessing the power of the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip, outperforming its counterpart that utilizes the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3. The price points of these tablets are set at £369 / €399 (approximately $465) for the standard version and £449 / €499 (around $565) for the Pro, with an extra “Matte Glass” variant available at £549 / €649 ($690) that aims to minimize screen glare.
Xiaomi has also made headlines with the release of the Buds 5 Pro, expanding its audio product line. These earbuds come in two models: a Bluetooth variant and a Wi-Fi-enabled version designed to enhance audio quality when paired with compatible Xiaomi devices, currently limited to the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Ultra. This focus on delivering high-quality audio products demonstrates Xiaomi’s commitment to integrating premium features across all its new launches.
